Angela Allport Dancing School, Essex

Is this the right school for my child?

Angela's school caters for boys and girls from the age of three. Pupils can take part in the classes just for fun and fitness, or take a more serious approach to training if they wish. They can be entered for the I.S.T.D examinations and even go on to further training. Some students are currently studying at The Royal Ballet School's Associate Program in Covent Garden to complement Angela's excellent training in her school. Others have attended Associate courses at Central School of Ballet, Laine Theatre Arts and The Rambert Dance Company. In recent years, Angela's former pupils have been awarded full scholarships to train full time at White Lodge (The Royal Ballet School) and Elmhurst (In association with The Birmingham Royal Ballet).

Which classes can my child attend?

Classes for all ages - Classical Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Singing and Drama.
Classical Ballet, Modern and Tap have a range of levels that your child can attend from pre primary for the tots through to advanced 2 for the dedicated teens - pupils new to the school who have had prior training will be asked to audition, in the form of taking a class, to ascertain the most suitable level for their training.
Jazz, Singing and Drama have Junior and Senior classes.

Who else will be teaching my child?

Angela has a fabulous team of sort after teachers, each one highly qualified in their field. Every one of them teaches with the same love, dedication and consistency, to help the children not only to dance but to expand their motivation, enhance their sense of responsibility and self discipline. To be kind, caring individuals to those around them and to eventually achieve their own personal dreams.

Will my child have the opportunity to perform?

There are numerous opportunities for the children to perform and are encouraged to do so. The school has been well represented in productions in the West End, Euro Disney, Professional Pantomimes and The Royal Ballet Company. Some children regularly represent the school at Dance Festivals around the country and have achieved top prizes in major competitions such as The Imperial Ballet Awards, The Janet Cram Modern Awards and The Marjorie Davies Star Tap Awards.

We also invite all pupils from the school to appear in our bi-annual show, usually held at The Towngate Theatre in Basildon. This is a great opportunity to experience taking part in a grand scale production.
